What propellers are available for the E series engines? |

Availability is limited to the original Beech electric pitch controlled propellers. Hartzell produced a variable pitch hydraulic propeller for these engines which are on many planes today. So, just the Beech and Hartzell.
If a person does a engine conversion to a IO-470 etc. then you have more choices of propellers.
The Bonanza E-series engines have a spline end crankshaft and most all other airplane engines today have a flanged crankshaft propeller mount. The splined crankshaft engines are no longer produced and most likely the propeller companies will not be building a propeller for these engines. We just have to take care of the propellers we got or consider a engine conversion that will accept more modern propellers. |

I understand the 500 hour AD on some Hartzells can be illiminated but it's a very expensive modification.
Has anyone had it done and how much did it cost?
Is it worth it to convert back to an electric from the Hartzel? |

Could a flanged crankshaft be placed in an E series engine? |

If you had to change back from Hartzell Hyd. to a Beech electric, it would depend on if you already had a Beech electric available. You have to pull the Beech elect and grease the pitch bearing every 250 hrs. No AD's but would have to have all related items for the conversion back to original.
The E-series in the Navions have the flange crankshaft, but don't know if that would solve anything or not. I believe they have the same Hartzell with just a different mount. |

No Navion with an E series engine had a flanged crankshaft. They are all SAE 20 spline, and are subject to the Harthell propeller AD. Many Navion owners (myself included) swap out engines for IO-470's, IO-520's, or IO-550's not only for the performance increase, but to get rid of the propeller. |

I have a Hartzell that is effected by the AD. It was mentioned that one could eliminate this AD some how. Does anyone know how or if this was just a rumor. |
