How hard is it to get the 1900 fuel pump off? Several have said that I should have a look see as its been on for 20 some years. No other indications.

I would want to know how many hours it's been on there rather than years. It is the pins that fail, and NTSB has a few entries that actually were a result of the fuel pump pin breaking. I would imagine 250 to 500 hours is a good amount of time to be checking. I would also be a little more secure if I had the electric fuel pump as a back up. The hand wobble pump works, but sort of keeps you busy if you have to use it to get you some where, and your arm will get tired quickly. If you got three hands you might could work the wobble pump, one hand on the control wheel, and the other working the prop, gear, flaps, trim, throttle, etc. I would rather have an electric pump as a back up pump period.
