Has anyone removed the ailerons on their 35 bonanza? I want to repaint my magnesium ailerons because the paint has started to come off in large chunks on one side. The rest of the plane looks great, so this is killing me. My mechanic has never removed the ailerons on a bonanza and I need to make sure we do it right first time.
Thanks,

They are easy to remove. Exterior philips head screws top and bottom and usually a grounding strap. I usually would source and use new screws and washers to re-attach. I would also have ready the material needed to repaint the magnesium surface, assuming they are the original skins. I have the process to repaint magnesium posted.

If you have both ailerons off, its a good time to verify that they are both balanced according to the shop manual specs.
You should be able to accomplish all of this in a weekend. |
