I'm looking for a factory or otherwise approved installation drawing to mount a set of curtain rods and curtains in my 1964 S35.
Also interested in hearing from anyone knowledgeable in the history of when these were offered as an option and any design evolution through the years offered.
I have obtained a set supposedly off a 1968 35 (Ebay) and don't want to start drilling holes in the airplane untill I know exactly how they mount.
Regards, Scott |

Curtains have, I guess always been offered on the Bonanza line. You might want to check on the AD list for your Model Bonanza and verifiy what applies. The rear or 2nd windows that have the emergancy exits which open were decided to be of hazzard if curtains were installed there. Mostly because the curtain rods were installed on the airframe around the windows and not on the windows themselves. Some owners have relocated the curtain rods to the window frame in which may avoid the obstruction issue. When you open the window, the curtain opens with it. Also, Beech windows originally had a frame that allowed the window to float inside the frame and no hole drilled in the glass. Many Bonanza's today have had the windows replaced and shanged to a frameless window in which the glass is drilled and fitted to the airframe. In some cases this caused a problem for the curtain rod attachment points. So when sourcing curtain rods, you need to access what configuration your current Bonanza is, it may be configured like a later Model Bonanza and you may need to order or acquire parts to a later model to be installed.
Reference AD:
AD 84-09-01
(2) That any curtain bars and/or curtains installed are attached to the openable window and not on the window frame so that they will not restrict egress in the event of an emergency. |
