Is there a modification that truely will illiminate or minimize fishtail in flight?

Yeah, some people will install auto pilots with yaw dampers, some will install the air skeg underneath the rear fuselage. I prefer to just lightly have me feet resting on the rudder pedals. I never really felt the fishtail was as bad as some other planes I have flown. If you fly feet on the floor, you will have an issue.

Have you flown in a plane with the skeg?
Does it really make a difference.
My plane flies straight in smooth air, but in turbulence, it really wanders noticeably more than other planes I've owned.

Yes, I've flown a plane with a skeg, but couldn't give a honest comparison. A good comparison would be from a owner that had many hours in his Bonanza without the skeg and then installed a skeg and flown in various conditions. I've heard that a stinger tail cone has some effect too.

As Bryan suggests, just rest your feet on the pedals in smooth air and light turbulence. In rough air I have a little trick. Its somewhat counter-intuitive, but the physics of the solution are actually related to the natural frequency of the fishtail and the average human reaction time. Apply rudder in the direction of the swing of the nose, not opposite. For example, if the nose swings right, apply pressure to the right rudder, this immediately stops the swing in the opposite direction. Then just release the right rudder pressure and the nose will settle back to neutral. With a little practice, your backseat passengers will never notice the fishtail and its a lot cheaper than yaw dampeners and air skegs. Charlie

I'll try that.
Thanks
