Engine Mounts

Many of the early Bonanza's 35, A35, B35's over the years have gone to the later E-series engine models such as a conversion to the E-225-8 from the various E-185 series. Back in the 1950's when the E-series 225-8's were new, these engines would come with the proper engine mounts from TCM. The E-225-8 had the mount legs with heavier rubber shock mounts and were slightly of a differently design. The mounts that are on the airframe (I believe) are the same though. As you may already know, the conversion to the E225-8 engine is already approved by then Beechcraft and does not require a STC. In the Beech Shop Manual, it lists the required parts to make the engine conversion. One of the items it lists is the engine mount legs. So why the concern? Well, in many of these installations, the old original mount legs were re-used from the E-185's (yes they will fit) for what ever reasons. Today if you get a E225-8 engine you will probably get it out of another airplane and you don't always get the engine mount legs like you did years ago from TCM when they were new. So what happens, the mechanic re-uses the legs from the engine (E-185) that came out of the airplane.

Does it cause any problems? I'm not aware of any problems. I myself had rather have the proper mount legs for the engine/airframe combination I'm running.
